Dr. Phillips senior Colin Bryant scored two goals in the final one minute and 10 seconds of Saturday’s boys water polo region final — including the game-winner with four seconds remaining — to help lift the Panthers to a dramatic 15-14 victory over visiting Boca Raton.
The win sends the Panthers (16-2) to next weekend’s state tournament in Miami, where they will play another Orlando area region title squad, Lake Brantley (18-1) in a Friday semifinal. The Patriots posted a 10-3 win at Winter Park (11-9) to advance.
Two area girls teams, undefeated Lake Nona and Sanford Seminole, also punched their ticket to the FHSAA final four event at Belen Belen Jesuit Preparatory School with Saturday victories.
