The last time the Dr. Phillips High boys basketball team went to the state semifinals in Lakeland, many of its current players probably weren’t even playing on regulation baskets.
It’s been a decade, but after a dominant 71-49 victory over Seminole in the regional final Friday night, the host Panthers (22-3) are headed to the RP Funding Center for the FHSAA Class 7A State Semifinals.
Aberdeen scored a game-high 22 points and junior big man Ernest Udeh Jr. had 16 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks to lead the way for Dr. Phillips. Junior Riley Kugel had 14 points to pair with seven assists.
