Hurns, a University of Miami alum, missed Saturday’s preseason opener against the Chicago Bears with the injury, which wasn’t disclosed at the time.
He was recently seen at Wednesday’s first of two joint practices with the Bears, involved in a scuffle with Chicago safety Teez Tabor when Tabor hit him on a pass deep over the middle.
Hurns was hoping to stand out this preseason after being a COVID opt-out in 2020. On the 2019 Dolphins, Hurns went for 32 receptions, 416 yards and two touchdowns.
Over six NFL seasons — four with the Jacksonville Jaguars — the former Miami Carol City High grad has accumulated 3,380 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns.
