Dolphins will play Sunday’s game against Raiders without a position coach

The Miami Dolphins will not have one of the team’s position coaches on the sideline for Sunday’s road game against the Las Vegas Raiders because of the NFL’s COVID-19 rules.

Rob Leonard, the team’s outside linebacker coach, has either tested positive for coronavirus, or has come in close contact with someone who has because he has been prevented from traveling with the team to Las Vegas.

Leonard’s in-game responsibilities, which are to work with outside linebacker like Andrew Van Ginkel, Brennan Scarlett and rookie Jaelan Phillips, will be shared by other members of the defensive staff.

As someone who has been vaccinated, Leonard must produce two negative tests within a 48-hour period before he’s allowed to return to the team, and the facility.
