Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had his best practice on Monday as the team began its second week of padded practices ahead of 2020 NFL season.
He wasn’t flawless by any stretch of the imagination. But here’s why Tagovailoa’s outing was superior: he showed a willingness to take chances and allow his teammates to make plays while also having the ability to throw the football away when none of his targets were open downfield.
The first was a 70-yard pass down the right sideline to fellow rookie receiver/running back Malcolm Perry. Tagovailoa may have had some extra time in the pocket that he may not be afforded during an actual game, but the throw was the best he delivered all camp — right into Perry’s hands in stride.
