The Miami Dolphins continue to supplement a secondary that might be forced to begin the season without cornerback Xavien Howard, signing a former XFL standout who led the now defunct league in interceptions.
According to agent Aston Wilson the Dolphins signed former University of South Florida standout Deatrick Nichols, a Miami native, who spent one season with the Arizona Cardinals before playing for the XFL Houston Roughriders, who he led the league with three interceptions.
After the XFL cancelled the season because of COVID-19 concerns Nichols, who played cornerback and safety in in college and the XFL, signed with the New Orleans Saints.
