Long, whom the Dolphins selected with a third-round pick in this year’s draft, went down after he caught a pass over the middle, was running down the sideline and then had safety Nate Holley swipe at him to force a fumble.
Long, the Boston College product, was attended to by trainers for several minutes as they appeared to focus on his left leg. Long was then helped onto a cart, unable to put any weight on the leg.
Long was showing flashes of his pass-catching abilities in spurts early on in his first professional training camp, but he also has displayed a propensity to fumble — both which were encapsulated in the play in which he got hurt.
