MIAMI GARDENS — Through his first two NFL games, rookie Miami Dolphins edge defender Jaelan Phillips is averaging 20 snaps per game, in on less than 30 percent of defensive plays for both the Dolphins’ opener at the New England Patriots and Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills.
The first-round pick out of the University of Miami, who has three assisted tackles and one quarterback hit in those opportunities, is still trying to find his NFL groove after starring for the Hurricanes in 2020.
Although he was drafted at No. 18, it’s understandable that he’s facing a big learning curve.
