The Miami Dolphins gave new linebacker Benardrick McKinney a drastic pay cut, reducing his salary this season by $4 million, and removing the final two years on the contract they traded for this offseason.
McKinney, a 2018 Pro Bowl selection who has averaged 88 tackles (6.6 a game) in his six seasons in the NFL, had a base salaries of $7 million in 2021, $8.75 million in 2022, and $9 million in 2023 on the deal Miami inherited when they traded Shaq Lawson to the Houston Texans for McKinney.
His old deal featured $750,000 worth of bonuses that pays him $47,000 for each game he plays in those seasons.
