MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is a week into 2021 training camp, and he has shown flashes of what better downfield throws could look like from his left arm.

It was an area of his game that was missing as a rookie as deep balls and intermediate sideline throws struggled to find their targets, possibly a byproduct of Tagovailoa’s hip injury that ended his college career at Alabama in November of 2019 still being a concern or at least a reason for discomfort.

Tagovailoa’s 6.3 yards per pass attempt in 2020 ranked 30th among qualifying quarterbacks.
