Here’s the latest installment of our Miami Dolphins Q&A, where South Florida Sun Sentinel writers Safid Deen and Omar Kelly answer questions from readers.
The Dolphins signed Howard to a two-year deal worth $9.75 million hoping that he’d be the power back that complements this spread based offense. The vision was for him to be the LaGarrette Blount-like weapon, a bruising back that pairs well with the scatback needed to make the Dolphins’ spread schemes work.
Howard was supposed to gain the tough yards on early downs, serving as Miami’s goal line back in the red zone, and possibly finish off victories with tough physical runs when the Dolphins needed to run their four-minute offense to kill the clock.
