Some of it is a byproduct of the league’s upper-echelon quarterbacks — Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan — aging out, and teams preparing to move on.
This is the first generation of quarterbacks who have been able to play into their 40s, so the league isn’t familiar with how to end their accomplished careers properly.
But I suspect a lot of the expected quarterback movement has to do with the financial strain placed on the NFL due to not having fans in the seats due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
