The Miami Dolphins will be forced to finish the regular season, and possibly compete in the playoffs without one of the team’s captains, and top defenders.
Head coach Brian Flores revealed that starting inside linebacker Elandon Roberts suffered “a significant” right knee injury in last week’s 26-25 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, one that will likely require constructive surgery, which means the season is over for the fifth-year veteran the Dolphins signed to a one-year deal worth $2 million.
Roberts, who contributed 61 tackles (eight for loss), 1.5 sacks, forced and recovered one fumble in the 13 games he played this season, will likely facing a nine to 12 month rehabilitation process if a ligament needs to be repaired.
