MIAMI GARDENS — Matt Skura has started 51 of the 54 games he’s played in the NFL the past four seasons.
But the center the Miami Dolphins signed this offseason seemingly has an uphill battle to gain a prominent role with the Dolphins.
In fact, considering he spent the majority of Tuesday’s practice working with the third-team offense, at this point there’s no guarantee the former Ravens starter makes it onto Miami’s 53-man roster come September.
Michael Deiter began camp as the first-team center, and has held onto that role during practices first six sessions. Skura was the second-team center until Tuesday, where Cameron Tom, a journeyman Miami added this offseason, was put ahead of Skura.
