Fifty-seven minutes into Saturday’s match, Dillon Powers got the nod. He was to sub on for Donny Toia and make his Orlando City debut.
Powers stepped onto the pitch and almost immediately felt awestruck.
“It was really exciting to be out there,” Powers told the Sentinel after training Tuesday. “I think like right when I stepped on the field we had an chance to score, and just the energy I felt from the fans and everything, I had a moment of just pause to say, ‘Wow, this is really cool.’”
The Lions end up losing 2-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps, but Powers said the game time helped him understand his new teammates more on the field.
