A fortuitous bounce of the football and a pair of fourth down touchdown passes helped Deltona Trinity Christian rally to win its 2020 season opener against visiting Seven Rivers Christian of Lecanto 14-2 on Friday night.
The tight game was one of just five private school games in the Orlando area on opening night for a Florida high school football season that started three weeks late due to the coronavirus outbreak. The crowd was typical for a Trinity home game and the Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex was teeming with activity at kickoff with two Pop Warner youth league teams still practicing on two adjacent fields.
