Oviedo’s boys swimming team claimed their program’s third consecutive state championship and Seminole High junior Dawson Joyce had another sensational state meet on Saturday.
Oviedo, led by senior Tyler Hanley, scored 216 points to outscore two St. Johns County schools, Creekside (192.5) and Bartram Trail (188). Seminole placed eighth with Joyce piling up points for the 'Noles at the Sailfish Splash Waterpark and Aquatics Center in Stuart.
The University of Florida commit blew away his previous career bests with a winning time of 19.79 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle final and a nation-leading 43.59 first place performance in the 100 free.
