Florida’s high school football regular season was pushed back a month or more in most areas, and shortened to eight games or less for Central Florida teams due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Due to the many scheduling complications caused by the coronavirus, the Florida High School Athletic Association changed its football format to allow all teams that signed up for the state series to participate in the playoffs this year. That put more than 32 teams in the large-class brackets and means six weeks of postseason play for the first time in state history.
Round one last week was minimal, with the great majority of teams still in regular season mode.
