Column: NFL is targeting youngsters with playoff game on Nickelodeon, but kids ask the darnedest questions

You sort of knew that if the NFL was cool with fake crowd noise and superimposing video game-like fans in the stands, it was only a matter of time before we got googly eyes on players and fake slime in the end zone.

SpongeRoger Goodell is trying to come up with new ways to make pro football appeal to young people.

One of them is to allow — perhaps even encourage— CBS to produce an alternate version of its Jan. 10 wild-card game on corporate cousin Nickelodeon targeting the “All That” crowd.

There will be animated depictions of highlights from this season in addition to the superimposed sliming, googly eyes filter and other colorful, eye-catching graphics.
