COLUMBUS, Oh— In every MLS Expansion draft in which they’ve participated, Columbus Crew SC has lost a player. That trend continued in 2019 when Inter Miami chose midfielder Luis Argudo. Columbus receives $50,000 in General Allocation Money as compensation for the pick. If past MLS practices continue, they also will not be required to participate in the next MLS expansion draft.
Argudo is a versatile offensive player capable of playing multiple positions. A third round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Argudo only played 630 minutes. He began to develop further under Caleb Porter, playing over 1,000 minutes in 21 games, scoring one goal and three assists.
