For months rumors circulated through the soccer world that Juan Fernando Quintero, 24, a highly-touted attacking midfielder from Colombia, could join Major League Soccer.
During an interview with a Colombian radio show last week, Quintero said negotiations with MLS are more advanced than with any other league.
It is unlikely he will land with Orlando City due to the MLS discovery rights process, multiple league sources confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel Tuesday.
Quintero has been heavily linked to Orlando City and the Chicago Fire.
Chicago owns Quintero’s discovery rights, league sources confirmed, meaning the club has first right of refusal.
