Christian Wilkins defends embattled Dabo Swinney, but wants to help educate him

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Christian Wilkins may not agree with all of Clemson coach Dabo Swinney’s actions or thoughts when it comes to racism, racial slurs and social injustice.

Wilkins defended Swinney’s character after college football’s highest paid coach received significant criticism for his handling of an assistant coach using a racial slur during a Clemson practice and recently being photographed wearing a “Football Matters” T-shirt in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minnesota.

“Granted, he might not have said all the right things. He might have done some things that people disagree with, and that maybe I disagree with,” said Wilkins, who won two national titles at Clemson before becoming the Dolphins’ first-round pick in 2019.
