The U.S. women’s national team finished its final match before the selection of the Tokyo Olympic roster with a 2-0 win over Nigeria on Wednesday night.
The night marked the first time Q2 Stadium — the newly designed soccer-specific stadium that will host Austin FC this season — held a match.
A sold-out stadium of fans cheered on the Americans to their fourth straight win of 2021, hoisting a tifo emblazoned with an illustration of Crystal Dunn and the phrase “Christened by Queens” ahead of the match.
“There’s no words to explain how good it was,” coach Vlatko Andonovski said.
