A flash of gold twinkled as a chain around Camila’s neck caught the sunlight before she hurriedly tucked it into her Orlando Pride jersey.
“It's a necklace I got from my dad,” she said through a translator. “He always supported me. It’s something we have back home, and a lot of people wear it. He always supported me and followed my dreams, and he always helped me through my career in soccer.
“Having this on me, makes me feel like he is with me and gives me more strength to be on the field.”
Camila’s full name is Camila Martins Pereira, but she’s known by just her first name as most Brazilian soccer players, including teammates Monica and Marta, along with men’s captain Kaka.
