It didn’t take Byron Jones long to make an impact in the South Florida community with his charitable efforts.
The cornerback the Miami Dolphins added via free agency last offseason continued the community service efforts he started during his career with the Dallas Cowboys in his new home. As a result, he was selected as the Dolphins’ nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, which annually recognizes NFL players for their community service.
All of the league’s 32 nominees were announced Thursday and the list includes former Dolphins safety Michael Thomas, who has continued his community work while a member of the Houston Texans.
