The Miami Dolphins' video calling out the NFL’s response and hypocrisy on social justice issues was a player-driven discussion intended to promote unity in the fight against social and racial injustice and police brutality, coach Brian Flores said Friday.
Flores and 18 Dolphins players recited a powerful poem in a two-minute video posted on social media Thursday night, demanding action rather than symbolic gestures from the NFL and its owners to use their influence and political power to inspire change.
The Dolphins players announced in the video they would stay inside the locker room when the national anthem and “Lift Every Voice And Sing” are played before Sunday’s opener on the road against the New England Patriots.
