Brazilian star Marta carved her name into yet another record book in the opening match of the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday.
The Orlando Pride attacker became the first women’s soccer player to score in five straight Olympic Games after netting a pair of goals in Brazil’s 5-0 win over China.
Marta opened scoring for Brazil in the ninth minute of play, pouncing on a ball rebounding off the crossbar and burying the shot in the net. She added another in the second half with a left-footed finish.
After the goal, Marta formed a “T” shape with her arms and held it up to the television cameras in celebration, a dedication to her fiancee and Orlando Pride teammate Toni Pressley.
