Coastal Carolina has cruised into this weekend’s Cure Bowl with an unbeaten (11-0) record and has done it all with a freshman quarterback. Ask Coastal head coach Jamey Chadwell if he’s surprised that Grayson McCall has been able to lead the Chanticleers into their first bowl game since joining the Football Bowl Subdivision, and he’ll say he’s not.
Afterall, he is the person who decided to hand over the keys to the Chanticleers’ offense to McCall in just his first season.
“He’s got this cool calm persona, I guess swag is the term kids use these days, but he’s got a calmness about himself and the way he carries himself,” Chadwell said.
