Former Orlando City defender Kamal Miller will head to Texas for the 2021 season after he was selected by Austin FC in the MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday. The 23-year-old defender was selected with the fifth and final pick of the draft.
The Lions drafted Miller out of Syracuse in 2019, and the defender went on to play a vital role as a secondary outside back throughout two seasons with the Lions. He tallied 28 appearances during his time in Orlando.
Although Miller saw call-ups for the Canadian national team during his rookie season, he was limited in Orlando due to playing out of position as a left back rather than his natural centerback position.
