For nine minutes and some stoppage time against NYCFC, Orlando City supporters finally got to see attacking midfielder Jose Villarreal in action.
Villarreal was part of an offseason full of acquisitions for Orlando City, but until Saturday’s match, he was one of two new players who hadn’t yet logged match minutes for the club. The other was backup goalkeeper Adam Grinwis.
Villarreal, a 24-year-old California native, was subbed on in the 81st minute of the Lions’ 3-0 loss to NYCFC.
“I feel good,” he said. “I feel happy to get on the field, get some touches on the ball.
