Apopka avenged a regular-season loss Friday night to advance in the Florida High School Athletic Association football state playoffs.
The visiting Blue Darters, ranked No. 11 in the Sentinel Super 16, scored touchdowns on their first two possessions then settled for field goals in the second half and defeated No. 10 West Orange 18-9 in a Class 8A, Region 2 semifinal.
The Warriors (6-4) won 15-14 in overtime when the teams last met on Oct. 16. Apopka (7-3) was without standout senior quarterback Jaquan Lowman in that game.
Lowman led all rushers on Friday, going for 89 yards and two scores on 23 carries.
