Many feared the worst when midfielder Antonio Nocerino hobbled off the pitch in the 17th minute of Orlando City’s match against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
The Lions (3-1-0, 9 points) have racked up a number of muscle injuries so far this season, with multiple players missing up to six weeks of play.
Fortunately for Nocerino, evaluations showed no muscle tear or strain. He is day-to-day with inflammation of his left calf, according to a spokesman for the club.
He will be further evaluated during training this week before a decision is made about his availability for Orlando City’s match Saturday against the New York Red Bulls.
