Star striker Alex Morgan powered the Orlando Pride to come back from a late deficit against the Washington Spirit on Sunday, pulling the team back for a 1-1 draw in the team’s home opener of the regular season.
Rookie defender Phoebe McClernon sparked the play with a pass up the pitch, dropping just behind the Washington backline at Morgan’s feet.
From there, Morgan only had one final player to beat — keeper Aubrey Bledsoe. The striker took a single touch for her shot, chipping the ball past Bledsoe’s hand and onto goal, leaving Paige Nielsen to scramble back and deflect the ball further into the net.
