Former Orlando City midfielder Adrian Winter, who was released from his contract Friday due to family issues, reportedly will play for FC Zürich in Switzerland.
Orlando City could not confirm Swiss media reports linking Winter to FC Zürich, but a Lions spokesman said the club will have the option of selecting a player from Winter's new club as a replacement. There is no set timeline for that exchange.
FC Zürich plays in the second-tier Swiss Challenge League, but has a storied history with 12 Swiss Super League titles and nine Swiss Cup victories.
Winter, 29, played as a winger for Orlando City.
