The league announced the delays Thursday, stating all exhibition and nonconference games for men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball would be impacted.
The UCF football team’s opener against North Carolina at Spectrum Stadium, which is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4, is not impacted by the change. Florida State and Miami football schedules also are in tact, with the Seminoles set to take on West Virginia in Atlanta on Sept. 5 and the Hurricanes set to take on Temple in Coral Gables on Sept. 5.
The ACC delay comes a day after the Ivy League voted not to stage sporting events in the fall, with a plan to revisit potentially playing all sports in the spring due to concerns about the rapid spread of COVID-19.
