NEW YORK, N.Y. – Oregon State standout Sydney Wiese took the next step on her basketball journey Thursday afternoon, as she was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks with the No. 11 overall pick in the WNBA Draft.
Wiese is the highest Oregon State player ever selected in the draft, and the third Beaver picked in the last two years, joining Ruth Hamblin and Jamie Weisner. Hamblin is about to begin her second season with the Dallas Wings, while Weisner has signed with the Los Angeles Sparks.
Oregon State's first ever Senior CLASS Award winner, Wiese was named an All-American by the Associated Press, Wooden Award and USBWA.
