GWANGJU, South Korea – Guard Sydney Wiese and center Ruth Hamblin have both helped their national teams advance to the quarterfinal phase of the World University Games in South Korea. Both Team USA and Canada finished the group phase with perfect 3-0 records, and both squads will begin the knockout phase of the tournament at 2 a.m. PT on Thursday.
Wiese made her international debut in the USA’s opening game, an 86-68 win over Italy. She would proceed to tally six points and two rebounds in a 90-75 triumph over China, before notching nine points and two rebounds against the Czech Republic.
