CORVALLIS – When accolades began to pour in before the season about his team being among the nation's elite, Oregon State head baseball coach Pat Casey treaded with caution.
"I think one day they play the game well and the next day they don't," Casey said at the team's media day in February.
He continued to maintain that the Beavers had a long way to go despite a blazing start that vaulted them up to No. 3 in the national rankings, saying after a non-conference loss to San Francisco that OSU was "not a very good team.
