At an Oregon State softball practice near the end of the 2015 season, Dani Gilmore stepped to the plate during batting practice with her coach, Laura Berg, ready to pitch. The senior centerfielder shot the first delivery or two into right field, a sight seen many times by her teammates in practices and games.
But then, coach Berg stopped and called out something along the lines of, “Dani! We know you can go deep. Show us your bunting!
