WICHITA, Kan. – Oregon State junior Troy Claunch has been named to the initial watch list for the Buster Posey Award, which is given annually to the nation's top collegiate catcher.
Claunch, from Vacaville, Calif., has played in 11 games for the Beavers this season and is batting .244 with two doubles, three home runs and 13 runs batted in.
Sixty catchers are on the initial watch list, with any additions set for May 6. Semifinalists for the honor will be announced May 19, while the finalists will be set June 3.
