Timmy Hernandez reunites with Gary Andersen, competes for playing time at receiver for Oregon State

CORVALLIS — Nearly a decade ago, Timmy Hernandez ran around at Utah football games in face paint and a red wig to support his older brother, Brian, a receiver for the Utes.

Now he's the latest Hernandez receiver to play for a Gary Andersen staff, joining the Oregon State Beavers during spring football after transferring from Pima Community College.

"It definitely helps to have a familiar face around," Hernandez said of Andersen. "He has a good reputation with my family."

Hernandez, who has three years of eligibility remaining at OSU, became the first player in the history of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference to earn all-league honors on both offense and defense after tallying 53 catches for 849 yards and six touchdowns as a receiver and 45 tackles, two interceptions and a touchdown as a cornerback.
