OMAHA, Neb. – Jake Thompson leads the nation with 13 wins in 2017, and on Monday morning, he was named one of 25 semifinalists for the Gregg Olson Award, which is presented annually to college baseball's breakout player of the year.
The honor, announced by the College Baseball Hall of Fame, recognizes the "top amateur baseball player who elevates his games to an elite level throughout the season."
Thompson, a native of Florence, Ore., scattered one run over 7 2/3 innings in Oregon State's 8-2 victory over Holy Cross Friday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
