CORVALLIS - Last year, on the late November day when the one-sided balance of the Civil War shifted, Thomas Tyner left his television set at halftime and picked up a fishing pole.
Tyner headed to Bethany Pond in Washington County near his native Aloha, where he occasionally checked the ESPN app on his phone as Oregon State rushed 21 consecutive times to take down Oregon 34-24.
The thought of returning to the football field was far from his mind as the Beavers ended the their eight-game losing streak to the Ducks, his former team.
Yet this Saturday, Tyner will add a rare feat to one of the most unique athletic careers in state history - suiting up for OSU and playing at the Autzen Stadium for the first time in three years.
