Interim head coach Pat Bailey was basically a caretaker manager/head coach for the 2019 season, as former head coach Pat Casey decided to semi-retire after claiming last year’s College World Series title. However, all along the way, Casey has left the idea of a potential return to the program open, as noted frequently by many national and local sportswriters along the way.
