If you took in any of Monday night’s 2019 MLB Draft on the MLB Network, you probably recognized an old familiar face in that of former Oregon State head coach Pat Casey analyzing players and picks throughout the night.
One of the most unique parts about the coverage was Casey’s ability to interact with his prized (former) player Adley Rutschman immediately after the catcher heard the official news that he was, as expected, the top pick in the selection process. In Casey’s voice and face, you could see the genuine joy and excitement he had for the young man as he took the first steps to his professional career.
