South Salem High School senior Ellie Slama won the Junior Girls Player of the Year award from the Pacific Northwest Golf Association for the second year in a row.
In May, Slama won the Class 6A high school individual title, then followed with another stellar summer, highlighted by a victory in the PNGA Junior Girls Amateur. The championship is considered the most prestigious for junior girls in the PNGA area, which includes Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
Slama also won the Pacific Northwest Junior PGA Championship; qualified for the U.S. Junior Girls Amateur and made match play; was runner-up in the Oregon Junior Amateur and Oregon Junior Stroke Play; and played on the Oregon team in the Girls Junior Americas Cup.
