New Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes will sign a six-year contract with a base salary of $850,000, according to the memorandum of understanding obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive via a public records request.
The agreement, which was signed by Barnes and OSU President Ed Ray on Dec. 22, "will be set forth in a formal employment contract with the University."
The base salary will also include a 3 percent increase each year for cost of living. Additionally, the deal includes up to $125,000 in potential bonuses.
Those incentives can be obtained via athletic accomplishments such as bowl or NCAA Tournament appearances for football or men's basketball ($15,000 each), Pac-12 titles ($10,000 for football, $5,000 for all other sports) and finishing in the top half of the conference in APR score ($5,000 per team), along with performance in areas like financial stability, long-term fundraising, facilities improvements and student-athlete programming.
