STILLWATER, Okla. – Nicole Schroeder opened the NCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championships with a 5-over 77 on Friday.
Schroeder had four birdies, five bogeys and two doubles at the challenging par-72, 6,328-yard Karsten Creek Golf Club to put her in a tie for 68th place. Her birdies came on the par-3, 137-yard seventh, par-4, 327-yard 12th, par-5, 502-yard 14th and par-5, 482-yard 18th holes.
Only eight golfers in the 132-player field finished in red figures, led by Jennifer Kupcho of Wake Forest with a 7-under 65.
The NCAA Championships consists of all 24 teams and 12 individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play.
