Rockne Freitas Elected to Polynesian Hall of Fame

Former Oregon State football standout Rockne Crowningburg Freitas is a member of a select group of five individuals who make up the third class of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame, to be enshrined at a ceremony on the island of Oahu Jan. 29-30 of next year it was announced Wednesday.

Freitas played center for the Beavers from 1964-66 for head coaches Tommy Prothro and Dee Andros. The Kamehameha High School graduate and native of Honolulu helped Oregon State to the 1965 Rose Bowl game. The Beavers finished in the top 20 in the nation in two of his three seasons as a varsity player, including No.
