KEIZER – One year ago, Volcanoes Stadium was the setting for one of Oregon State's all-time offensive displays.
Seven home runs and 24 hits defined a 20-0 thrashing of Portland, the kind of result that had become customary for the in-state matchup.
But on Tuesday, the screeching sounds over the right field fence of trucks speeding down I-5 was the backdrop for what will likely go down as the Beavers' most distressing defeat of the year.
OSU fell to Portland 7-5 after a six-run fourth inning highlighted by six walks, a loss that snapped the Beavers' 25-game win streak against the Pilots.
